For my portfolio that I created a couple quarters ago, I used an animated bar to show and hide my footer. It has a simple roll over effect using javascript and css. It can be used in multiple ways. I used it just to hide my footer, leaving the top of the bar with my name visible at all times. The css allows you to customize it for your specific needs...for example, I made mine match my web colors. Plus, I added a "scroll to the top" button that becomes visible once you scroll your page down and the footer bar would always cove up my "scroll to the top" arrow, which I didn't want to happen. With some minor adjustments, it works well for what I needed it for.

Chapter 3
This chapter will be useful as well. Up to now, I've been limited in what kind of background images I can use for my own web site designs. I created a web site for a class of mine after taking your fundamentals of web based programing and used what knowledge I got from your class. You definitely gave me a strong foundation to work from but I am obviously limited in what I can do. I had in mind a background image I wanted to use but it just wasn't working out for me. Now I can make it work for whatever look I'm trying to create. Embedding unique fonts is also a good thing to know. I do like Google Fonts, however, I think it's good to know multiple ways of doing things.
Chapter 2
I found this chapter to be easy to follow and very useful. I can definitely see myself using these tools to create different layout options for my own portfolio. I love the rounded corners and although I won't be using them for individual's posts, I can certainly use them as boxes for thumbnails, text, or anything else I want to make separate from other design elements.

Intro to web design class
Hello Sharon,
This is my blog for the class. I don't typically blog due to time constraints so this is what you get...my quote of the week is from Cave Johnson, "When life gives your lemons, make life take them back."
I don't care for lemonade so this is what you get. :)
